recommendations for a nice cottage near a beach for family of 5, comfortable but not expensive

please offer any suggestions! we would like to go somewhere other than devon, where we have spent many holidays. what areas do you like best to visit in the uk? please tell me about any lovely cottages you have stayed in

What time of year and what do your family like to do/ what ages? We stayed in a fab cottage above Lake Conison called the coppermines, was really cosy, great views and right up in the hills so fab for walkers like us... But non outdoorsy types would hate it!!

Would love some Devon tips if you are walkers... Me, DH and baby DS in baby bjorn sling, a week in Nov, thinking cliff paths, windy beach walks, cream teas and cosy cottage with fire :-)

Also love North Yorkshire, around Pickering area - mountain biking in Dalby forest, visits to Whitby, robin hoods bay etc plus loads of great country pubs for lunch :-)

Sorry missed your beach requirement. Northumberland? North yorks but on the coast? Norfolk? Wales - tenby in south or abersoch in north?

thanks so much, the kids will be 11, 8 and 3, so we are a bit limited in terms of outdoor activities by our littlest, but we like pony trekking, visiting farms and local family attractions, and if the weather is nice a paddle is great.

ps in terms of devon, the north devon coast is beautiful and rugged, south devon has lovely towns, steam railways and beaches. we stayed at a great place called pitt farm in south devon which was lovely for kids with a pool and trampoline, table tennis table, and goats and pigs. on the north devon holiday we stayed at long furlong on the hartland peninsula which was also very nice. i imagine there would be lovey walks from there, but we didnt do any very long ones

North Norfolk or South Norfolk (Rent a lodge at Clippesby hall and visit Bewilderwood!)

Snowdonia (cae garw farm/Lyn holidays)

Lake District (paddle in streams instead of the sea)
Cornwall (as far west as possible)

Rose Cottage in the Isle of Wight is beautiful. Massive garden, swimming pool (may be a little chilly!), little stream nearby, cosy log fire etc - we loved it.

We stayed here a few years ago www.norfolkcottages.co.uk/cottage-details/962 . The beach was a minute walk away down the end of a quiet road.
Norfolk is great for family holidays, there is loads to do, theme parks for little ones, zoos, traditional seaside towns, and we always hire a day boat on the broads.
