Stop over ?? Lake District

We are travelling down from Scotland in October and are looking for a stop off place for 1 night to break the journey.
We don't want to pay a fortune and we don't want to have to travel miles for a meal once we get there so are thinking maybe an inn or a pub with rooms would be a good bet.
Can anyone recommend somewhere clean and accommodating around maybe (but not essential) the Lake District.
We would be M6 southbound so anything along that corridor would be good.
Many thanks.

Not been here but heard recommendations for food.

Just up the road from there is the Kings Arms in Burton in Kendal. Child and dog friendly
I'm biased as its my mums place but if you google there are reviews, and menu is on the website

King's Arms Burton

I love Keswick not sure how close to M6 it is? Lots of nice places to stay and eat.

We have found and booked somewhere now.
Not The King's Arms this time Curios, but we'll certainly bear it in mind for future trips.
Many thanks.

Glad you found somewhere enjoy your trip. The King's Arms is brighhair's mums place I was helping with the link. Not been myself, yet!
