Am looking for a venue to hang around with friends for a weekend to celebrate my 40th birthday next March. Any ideas.
I have come across this which is in London

What kind of thing do you want to do?
Are you looking just in London?

Hi. I am quite flexible with where we go as my friends are travelling from all over the palce. I thought of London as its quite easy to get.
I also came across this on a groupon offer

I was going to suggest Bath. My friend went there for a birthday weekend and went to the Thermae Spa and said it was fab. Also lots to do there.

I'll have a think about London and come back to you.

Whatever you do, make sure that yor friends can all afford it , otherwise we'll get a thread with one of your mates wondering how they can get out of it without upsetting you.

We went to Bath. stayed in a cheap travel inn on the edge opposite a fantastic curry house. there was the option to go to the spa for those that wanted to and we booked afternoon tea in the pump room and went round the costume museum. all very civilised and gave us plenty of time for chat. agree with marge2. each of us had v different cost expectations and it is important perhaps to get an idea of those before you start searching.

Not sure where you're based but here's a few other ideas - Edinburgh - great city, good shopping, arts, history so the same sort of idea could be York, Bath, Chester; weekend in the country - I stayed at a holiday cottage nr Loch Lomond with gang of girlfriends, did a bootcamp one day, had a visiting beauty therapy/pamper party session t'other, epic scenery and loads of fresh air but lots of treats too; alternatively hire a youth hostel?
