Driving from Brighton to Cornwall

Hello,

My DW and I are driving from Brighton to the Newquay this month (July).

Looking for advice on nice places to stop with the kids, so that we can preferably avoid McDonalds, Little Chef etc.

We hope to set off early too, so looking for somewhere that would be open between 6am and 8am either just for coffee or even for breakfast, in the Hampshire area.

All suggestions greatly accepted!

Thanks,
The Brightonian

Stop in Ringwood. You can park in Waitrose car park, it's just off the A31 and there's a small shopping centre with some cafes etc. as well as places to stock up on car snacks.

Hayling Island - there's a pub called the Ship Inn which does nice pub food, and has a large outdoor seating bit (wooden picnic tables) with gorgeous views over the water. It's the A3203 Langstone Road, it's on your left just before you come onto the bridge over the estuary between the mainland and Hayling Island.

Oops, just looked at your OP again and realised you'll be around that area too early in the day to make that your lunch stop. Save that one for another time maybe ;)

Many thanks all! My wife wants somewhere we could potentially stop every hour so that's two down and three to go I guess!

Definitely stop in the New Forest area. If you can take a picnic with you, it makes a lovely stop off. You pass through some beautiful towns, lots of stop offs possible :)

Are you going along the coast or because it actually it seems odd but it's quicker to get there on the a303. If going more coastal dorchester is quite nice, if a303 you could do stonehenge for lunch.
