It's a big place: where are you based?
If you've got the gear and like walking the best thing is to avoid the crowds, head for th fells and enjoy he views!

Hiya rosin, I will b near Windermere. Is that a busy area?
Mostly I go places and take pictures :).
It looked lovely from the photographs I have seen.
Whereabouts are the fells

If you've got children, then I definitely recommend the Haverthwaite & Lakeside steam railway.

It's a short little railway and you can get a boat from Bowness (Windermere) to Lakeside station, pick the train up to Haverthwaite and then get a free shuttle bus to the motor museum if you fancy it, or just have a look around the gift shop and cafe, get back on the train and there's a lovely aquarium at Lakeside, before you get back on the boat to Bownes.

We did it with my 3yo DS two weeks ago and it was fab.

Oh and even if you haven't got children, do the same trip, but you might not want to visit the aquarium :)
