Hi, we went in the public ballot and got 2 tickets for the last Friday, which is fantastic but now to the accommodation, we need somewhere for the Thursday and Friday night. Cheapest we've found is travelodge but it's at Heathrow which isn't exactly round the corner, any ideas? Any Mnetters with a spare room?Wink

look for hotels in Central Croydon - you can use tram to get to Wimbledon and then a walk or a bus to the courts

alternatively - Sutton - again train ride to Wimbledon

Thanks, I'll look for that area next. How far is it to walk to the courts from Wimbledon?

Go for Sutton or Morden. Buses from Sutton take you right there, if i remember correctly

It's around 3/4 mile from the main train station in Wimbledon, uphill all the way. It takes around 20-25 mins. Much quicker to get back down. What is your budget for accommodation and how many of you are there? Camping is a possible option, in Wimbledon Park.

There is Holiday Inn in Colliers Wood and the Travelodge is being refurbished but probably will be open again by end of June...then you can get the 200 Bus all the way into Wimbledon Village (and from there just a 10 minute stroll down the hill to the Tennis Club!).

Alternatively, there is a fairly cheapish hotel called the Antoinette in Wimbledon.....

Would say if possible that it's a lot nicer to stay in Wimbledon than in Croydon - there's the theatre, HMV Curzon cinema and lots of nice places to eat in Wimbledon Village!

Lucky you with your tennis tickets!

thanks everyone, budget is tight , but will look at what you suggested. It's just me and dh, children will be at sil's Smile.

We were so luck, it was the 1st time we've gone in for the ballot and my dh loves tennis, so when the letter came through the week before his birthday I couldn't believe it.

There's a premier inn in colliers wood and in Putney.
Phoenix hotel round the corner from the antoinette, think that's cheap.
Really not sure what its like though.
And a best western in Putney, just a couple of tube stops
They put on buses to southfields and wimbledon, loads of them

I haven't heard from the ballot, Sad
