Cheapish London accomodation

Am planning on going to London for a show, dinner etc and to stay the night with DH and a couple of friends for my big upcoming 40th. I'm looking for accommodation that's not too pricey! I don't have a set budget but definitely can't afford 150 a night hotels. I'd still like it to be fairly nice though.

Any ideas or am I looking for the impossible?

We usually stay at the Travelodge on High Holborn. It's in easy walking distance of theatres/West End and is reasonably priced. It's not the Ritz but it's clean, comfortable and has a late bar!

Thanks for that Busters, I guess that's exactly what I'm looking for but I really want the Ritz!

Any more ideas, can I get anything a bit more special?

Agree with busters. we book the cheapest room we can in a travelodge/premier Inn which gives us more spending money. tbh you spend so little time in your room anyway that it doesnt really matter that it is a travelodge and not some swanky rooms does it Smile

No surprise that I agree with mummymeister Grin I have spent many nights in hotels in London on business that cost £100+ a night for a single where the rooms have been so tiny and cramped that there is no way I would ever pay privately to stay there. It's such a rip off.

Our room in the Travelodge was enormous, big comfy double bed, sofa, tv and a bathroom where you could actually sit on the loo without your arm touching the side of the sink.

Seriously, spend your money on a nice meal and good seats for a show. Don't waste it on a mediocre hotel room that you're hardly going to spend any time in.

I getcha. I definitely need money for cocktails, show and dinner. Travel Lodge it is! Thanks for talking sense into me Grin
