What's the best way to find a good deal on a nice hotel in London?

Is it even possible? DH and I are having a couple of nights away to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary in April Grin. We want to stay somewhere that feels a bit 'special' but without spending a fortune. I'm not expecting luxury, just somewhere other than bland and characterless chains - we are fans of Premier Inns with the kids but as we will be without them this time we want something a bit nicer!

Do we hold our nerve and book really late with somewhere like Lastminute.com? Are there any other similar websites worth trying?

Any particular recommendations of nice places to stay?

Check out www.laterooms.com which I have used. But book 'not so late rooms' to get the best price, I suggest booking about 6 - 3 weeks in advance if you find somewhere you really like, or even earlier if it's your anniversary falls over Easter in April.

Easytobook.com I used this the other week to find accomodation for work and found it really good!
