I'm thinking abiut a selfcatering holiday in the uk, (coming from abroad) we have friends in London, Cambridge and Bath that we'll want to visit as well so might do a twosite holiday, one week in the southeast and one near bath.

Any recommendations for cheap but reliable booking website?

Manh thanks!!

There are loads of them i know you must be feeling daunted! Depends what you are looking for. we have used lastminute-cottages.co.uk also the local tourist board - visit bath, visitcambridge or overall have a look at visitbritain website. always check places out on trip advisor as well to try and weed out the bad ones. theholidaycottages website is also a good one. it would be a good idea to refine down what you want and what you are prepared to pay per night before you search in earnest. good luck and hope you have lovely weather.

Hi there
I tend to use PureHolidayHomes.com as they seem to have the most interesting homes available at a good price by booking direct with the owner or the other one I like is HolidayLettings.co.uk as you can multi query properties

agree that Holiday Lettings is a really good site - many of the cottages / apartments can be booked direct with the owners so you get good value for money. Owners Direct is another one where you can book directly with the owners. AlsoE-selfcatering

Helpful holidays have the best website for advanced search - as in, for x many people with a dishwasher/garden/near a pub options. The Country Cottages group have all those options but still give you ones that don't match. Also, they are very Helpful Grin

Have a look at www.farmstay.co.uk or try to find a site where you book direct with the owner. You will get much better value than paying the commissions on a booking site like hoseasons or cottages4u, they charge 20-25% commission so that gets put into the price you pay .

Even when you book direct you can often pay by card - look at broadgatefarmcottages.co.uk direct booking and card payment too

We have used www.english-country-cottages.co.uk/sites/english-country-cottages/pages/home.aspx?clickcd=23200&gclid=CPH0_K3J_60CFe4htAodAzLQtg in the past. Also, the National Trust do holiday cottages.
