Heading to Edinburgh next weekend.

What is the winterwonderland like?

Any other suggestions on must do/see?

Have done Castle, Parliment,Dynamic Earth and the museums on previous trips.May go back to the national museum of Scotland as I think it has been extended.

DS age 8

Def the museum of Scotland - part of it shut for three years and reopened this summer. It's very impressive and there are a lot of interactive exhibits. I go a lot with dd (7), and we still haven't explored it all.

I haven't been to Winter Wonderland yet this year - it's normally good fun, esp the skating, but it is expensive.

Depends on your ds, but we also enjoy the Zoo a lot.

Museum of Childhood on the Royal Mile is free and again, my kids enjoy it, despite the creepy dolls!

Also, the Camera Obscura at the top of the Royal Mile is very entertaining. Your ds is probably the right age to appreciate it - my dd loved it.

Thank you was forgetting the camera obscura-it's not too far out either.
Love Edinburgh.

The winter wonderland looks great. DS is just a baby so I have no direct experience but we saw it at the weekend and it looks like brilliant fun for an 8yo. There's the ice rink, a rollercoaster, a big snow globe, bungee trampolines and a few other things. And of course the big wheel.

Have a wander round the German market too.
