Hotels in York

Can anyone recommend a really good hotel in York? By really good, I mean 4 or 5 star and centrally located (as we'll be travelling by train). Also, any recommendations of places to eat would be appreciated. Am treating DH for his 40th birthday so pushing the boat out a bit. Thanks in advance.

Oh you would have a lovely time at The cedar Court Grand. Think its 5 stars- was the only one last year when we went. Spa lovely. Right beside the train station....i dragged my hubby there on the train without the kids last nov and had such a fab time. My hairdresser is a bit of a glam jetsetter and he stayed there too and had a great time. Really relaxed atmosphere but gorgeous rooms.....places to relax and chill with a glass or two of wine....Can't think of where to eat right now but there are loads! Alas am heading to York tomorrow to not as luxurious a location and with the kids as hubby staying to work instead. Oh i wish i was heading to Cedar court with the hubby though.....Google it and have a look!
