Between London and Cornwall - stopover recommendation please!

We are going to Cornwall in a few weeks and wanted to stop over for a couple of nights to break the journey up. We are travelling from London and were thinking of Swanage or possibly Bournemouth. Does anyone know of a nice place to stay with an 8 and 6 year old? Lots of places will probably be booked up with the school holidays, but I thought we'd give it a shot. Thanks!

Think you have hit the nail on the head there! how long are you planning to stay on the stopover - a couple of nights? if so you will be looking at a travelodge or similar because everywhere else self catering or hotel will be either booked up or looking to let for longer lets than a night or two. so be realistic. look at the budget hotels, see which ones have deals and spaces and then decide which one is best. when going to Wales we stop at Monmouth for the night and when travelling to cornwall we stay in Bristol to go to the @bristol museum or the brunel boat. Need to pick my kids up from a pgl holiday early next saturday and am having one hell of a job finding a room for the friday night. so good luck.
