OMG, there's LOADS of places.

Depending on where your friend lives:

City Centre:
The Conservatory (pub under Austin Reed opposite Superdrug)
The Adelphi (Water Street)
Bibi's (pricey but awesome Italian by the train station)
Piccolino (Park St) - Italian
Living Room (Greek St)

Headingley:
Citrus (North Lane) - good restaurant but cheap as you like
Salvo's (Otley Rd) - Italian, lunch menu is pretty reasonable, won The F Word last year
Arcadia, (Otley Rd) standard pub fare but good

Chapel Allerton:
Salsa Mexicana, Harrogate Rd
Casa Mia Pizzeria, just off Harrogate Rd (stay away from Casa Mia Grande)

Roundhay:
Roundhay Fox (Park Rd) - busy pub right by the park - and Tropical World!

I could go on and on - where does your friend live? What do you like to eat? How much do you want to spend?

The Calls Grill

Oh yeah, that's lovely too

Harvey Nics restaurant, on too floor of shop on Briggate. They also have an outdoor cafe area on the ground floor, in the Victoria Quarter.

Are you going to the city centre? If so, I would recommend getting the train because parking is a pain in the ass if you don't know Leeds.

Top floor, not too floor!

in evening we are booked into Chino Latio so think we will opt for the Living Room for lunch
