caravan/lodge park pref inland, with evening kids entertainment, anywhere north of london - south of scotland?

Looking for a weeks holiday for me, dh and 2 dds (2 and 5) in august. Not too expensive. We always go to the coast (even though we already live on it!) so fancy trying a more inland countryside holiday.

We have been on haven holidays for a couple of years and dd1 loves the dancing in the evening. Would like a little entertainment/disco but not bothered if its not as much as haven.
Anyone have any recommendations?

Totally off topic but Lynnnnn I recognise your name. When you were pregnant with DD1 did you post on a much smaller parenting site and have an August baby? If so I was on your antenatal thread! I had a different name which I won't post but it was two common girl's names followed by a year. I had a girl too. Anyway, I will stop withering incase it's not you!

Yes we had a second DD. As did you I see. Congratulations.

We are really well. DD1 started Reception and is settling in well. I can't believe they are school children now. I remember us all announcing our pregnancies. DD2 is great too. She's always been more of a handful than her older sister but she's hilarious with it.

I wonder about the others too.

I can't help you on holidays really! I am rather ashamed to say that the only holiday I have had north of London was a weekend in the Peak District (which was gorgeous). We tend to take the girls to their grandparents' cottage in Wales or the area of Devon where I grew up.

Pleased to hear your girls are well and dd1 is settled into school. My dd1 loves school too, she has missed it this week.

It's funny you say that about your dd2 I feel the same about mine. She is adorable and funny but very fiesty and knows exactly what she wants!

Would love to holiday in the south, lots of beautiful places, its just too far to travel from up here. Wales is lovely though, we went there last year for a week.

We love the lake district and use this company www.slholidays.co.uk/. It's a very different experience from Haven, much less entertainment but White Cross Bay has a swimming pool and may have some things on in the evening for the family.

There are more child oriented things in the Lake District than you would think, feeding swans at Boness, a great adventure playground at the visitor centre, a good childrens soft play at Ambleside - we take turns to walk around the shops whilst DS plays and some lovely easy walks that would also be good with a buggy.

Have heard that Haggerston Castle Holiday Park is good, can't vouch for it personally though

We have been to Haggerston castle and it wasn't our cup of tea, it is Haven I think.
