I want holiday accommodation right by the beach, ideally a sandy one, for less than £750, in August. Am aware I am probably living in Cloud Cuckoo Land, but still...

If you want holiday camp style stuff, then you could try either Woolacombe Sands, in Woolacombe (the beach there is fantastic) or St Ives Bay in Hayle, Cornwall?

Or are you thinking more holiday cottage style stuff?

would try hoseasons they normally have some bargains or keep an eye out for a private cottage. We managed to get a beutiful one near the beach from a MNetter, and would love to go back one day.

Thanks Smile

I really don't mind where we stay but DP isn't into holiday-camp style places because he is a bit of a snob

I was going to suggest st Ives also, how many people what size place are you after?

notnowbernard · 03/01/2011 21:23

2 kids, 2 adults and a baby (so would only need 2 bedrooms if necessary as baby could share with us)

Camping? We spent £60 on a week in Scarborough last august

notnowbernard · 03/01/2011 21:27

I'm no good at camping

Can just about handle a long weekend or a festival but not a whole week

If I had guaranteed sunshine every day I may consider [flying pig]

Watergate Bay (Cornwall)

Cornwall but not sandy beach.

Wales close to Sandy beach.

Have randomly picked them so don't know what they are like.

Wynken - thanks, I will peruse that website!

Depends how much room you want, st Ives has some lovely fishernans cottages a a huge range of prices. Some have parking included as well which I would recommend as the carparks get very full very quickly.

This place is lovely, it's 2 apartments above an art gallery/little cafe, there are 3 pubs and a hotel about 10 seconds from the door that serve food, no noise AT ALL from the pubs or cafe, it's not that sort of place, it's a bit snobby/arty really!

As you can see from the pics the large sandy beach (I think it's a few miles long) is literally a few steps over the road as is St Micheals Mount.

The place is always spotlessly clean, we have stayed in both apartments at various times. There is plenty of room for a travel cot, or there is a sofa bed in the lounge.
