New Years Eve

I'm trying to find a family friendly venue where we can enjoy some food and entertainment for the dreaded NYE.
Our group of 6 will include recently bereaved Mother in Law so I need something that will keep her mind (and my DHs)away from sad thoughts and still interest 10 and 12 year olds.
Ideally would like to be in the Midlands, so we can all get there.I wondered if anyone might have seen a local hotel or restaurant advertising a caberet or comedy show?

No idea as am not in the midlands but verything is hideously overpriced on NYE. And booked up early (it's my birthday, we never managed anything like a party at any point on the actual night).

Would you consider staying in and having a family meal? Everybody be responsible for a different bit of it?

I dont think NYE is too popular on here, I posted a while ago about family friendly stuff and didn't get any replies!

Birmingham botanical gardens at edgbaston and highbury hall both have events like these- have a look at the website, highbury had a magician recently, not sure what they'll have NYE, and they may be too far north.
Hatton house, or severn valley railway any nearer?

We stay in a place near Looe in Cornwall called Wringworthy. We havent been at New Year but know that there is a lot to do in Cornwall over this time of year - Eden project is open with Ice skating, loads of Christmas markets. Looe has a big fireworks display and lots of other family friendly type stuff. The other thing to do is look on any last minute type websites to see who has something left.
