We're off to Sherwood Castle Holiday park on Monday with 3 ds aged 8,2 and 1. There will be lots to do in the holiday park but what are the best things to do/see/visit in the area? We like the outdoors but also like good child friendly pubs and markets.

I think you are very close to Rufford Abbey. We love it here, just loads of space to walk around, a bit of history to see, a couple of cafes/restaurants and it is all for free!

If you come down into Nottingham then try Greens Mill. It is a lovely old windmill right in the middle of Nottingham with a small 'science centre' attached with a few hands on experiments etc. It's good for about an hour and again all for free!
This restaurant is a short walk away and is really child friendly and not to expensive, my dd loves it!
I hope you have a lovely time here!

Try White Post Farm on the A614 on the way to Rufford Abbey/ Park . Lots of petting animals aswell as farm aminals and a big adventure play ground. Pretty much guarantee three exhausted kids at the end of the day :)
