Ideas for an Autumn break

Thinking of first weekend of October half term , starting Friday 22nd or possibly Thursday to Sunday, 2 adults & 2 kids(12 & 9). dh has sent off his passport for renewal so probably safer within UK. Fancy something not too basic with things to do fair weather or foul. Last year we went on a canal boat with friends and were really lucky weather-wise. Maybe West Country , Dorset, Jurassic Coast perhaps, but quite flexible. Any recommendations ?

ta, will have a better look when back from work later. Looked at Bluestone in the summer and it seemed pretty expensive for what it was.

Cheapest at Bluestone was £445 Friday to Monday. Natural Retreats £500+ for 2 nights! Forest holidays a possibility.

Still looking if anyone has further ideas. Any good offers around? Think I'd prefer somewhere catered (or b and b at least), the thought of lugging provisions etc for a few days is a bit of a pain.
