We are going to Scotland for a week later in the year. Has anyone got some suggestions as to where to go? We loved wildlife as a family and was hoping to find some beaches to?

Have you decided on your base? Scotland's a big place. How far do you want to travel from your base to get to wildlife/beaches?

Far north coast (Durness etc) has beautiful beaches, as has East Lothian. Loads of places for wildlife wherever you go, but you'd need to be more specific re location.

I love the west coast from Oban south - loads of lochs, fab wildlife, beaches but mostly pebble, stunning scenery, loads to do.

sandy beaches - east neuk of fife

How about one of the islands - Islay, Colonsay and Mull all good for wildlife and beaches.

I agree with Habbibu I live near the east neuk best beaches in the country. The Highlands are good for wildlife and of course Nessie.

The best beaches are actually in the Western Isles but it is a long long way to travel and weather not guaranteed at any time of year. Good for wildlife too though - otters/golden eagles etc .....

I'd go West. Anywhere West!

Dumfries and Galloway is lovely too.

Wester Ross has fantastic beaches..DH is from there.

Biting insects should be all gone by late Sept in the west - too cold for them by then!
