Hi, my friend has a bit of cash for one of those hotels where they provide lots of stuff for the kids but make you feel like a grown-up too. The trouble is she is not sure which one to go to. We had heard of
Wooley Grange but wondered if anyone has any other suggestions?
I have heard of a place in Cornwall called The Rosevine which is more of a country house with apartments than a hotel, which might fit the bill, has anyone been?

Try trip advisor for reviews?

I have heard of Sands Resort or something similar in Cornwall. Never been but friend had and have heard great things.

there's a section in MN reviews including Woolley Grange, have a look on there.

Just13moreyearstogo · 04/09/2010 23:05

The Grove, Hertfordshire

goingbacktowork · 05/09/2010 19:24

not sure that does much for kids

Just13moreyearstogo · 06/09/2010 10:42

They've got a really good creche and there are sports facilities and a kids club for older kids. There's a nice children's pool there too.

goingbacktowork · 06/09/2010 11:25

oh really? must check that one out myself.

LucyBat · 07/09/2010 10:45

My mate is in London and fancies the West Country. I can understand the desire to keep the little ones entertained while also getting some luxury time for herself and her DH
Wish I had the cash to go myself!

Calcot Manor in Gloucestershire?

WhatsWrongWithYou · 08/09/2010 12:44

I've heard good things about Watergate Bay in Cornwall; as well as the childcare and activities at the hotel, there's a surf school on the beach and it's close to one of Jamie Oliver's '15' restaurants.

Bedruthan Sands - fab. Close to Padstow etc. Great in winter!

bacon · 16/09/2010 23:14

Sorry Bedruthan Steps

doozle · 16/09/2010 23:18

I second Calcot Manor - marvellous for luxury family break.

Have stayed in cottage opposite The Rosevine a few times. We had a little look round once as it had been relatively recently taken over.
It is a lovely spot with a nice little beach just down the bottom of the hill (2 min walk down). Nice area, St Mawes nearby - good coast walks around, Carne beach along road also great, Trelissick gardens & King Harry ferry.
But don't know too much about hotel - looks great for something like a wedding where you book the whole thing. Quite small & relaxed was my impression but not sure about luxury.
Friends have been to Watergate Bay twice & just rebooked for October as loved it. Other friends have been to Bedruthan Steps & liked it.

Thanks for the ideas. She is going to go to The Rosevine I think - won over by the prospect of style and relaxation. It doesn't seem to be as big as some of these places. Also you can prepare food in your own apartment or use the dining room when you want to splash out.
