Aberdovey has nice sandy beach. Lots of watersports done there if you're in to that sort of thing. Tywyn is a few miles down the road and has a stoney beach but this year they are doing it up and removing the stones to create a sandy beach there too. There is a little steam railway in Tywyn which children love. there is also a leisure centre in Tywyn which has a swimming pool.

Though it depends on what you think of the weather. In April it may be wet/windy.

Aberdyfi is my favourite place.
Church Street is a bit steep- be warned.
Tywyn has the train as cupofcoffee said, good little railway museum and not much else. The front is a bit bleak (not slagging off the place, my dad was from there)
Crabbing in Aberdyfi a must, drinks and afternoon tea at the Trefeddian Hotel- amazing views.
Good accommodation further up Church St at Aberdyfi Hillside Village- amazing views from Eastward/Westward and good parking.
It's usually wet and dull most of the year- have been going for 50 years!
But lovely countryside- great walk from Morfa Mawddach over the Barmouth Bridge, Bird Rock, Talyllyn, George 3rd Inn at Penmaenpool, Machynlleth is a nice market town.
Avoid places like King Arthur's Labyrinth.
