I'm staying in Sheffield for two weeks in August (lovely, lovely friends lending us their house) and would like recommendations for days out ...
It will be me, dh and our 3 dds:
dd1 (almost 6)
dts (just turned 3)
I'm hoping to get to Chatsworth House for the day (for me) and the girls want to go to Gulliver's and dh to Heights of Abraham.

Any other ideas gratefully received.

Thank you

If there is a nice sunny day go to Padley gorge for a picnic and the kids can paddle in the stream there.

Eyam (the plague village) is interesting.

Kelham island museum www.simt.co.uk/kelham-island-museum/plan-your-visitis really good and has a soft play area, I think its free throughout the summer holidays, probably couldn't do a day there.

Oh fantastic, there are a few places for me to note and get the map out. My girls like a good walk (or rather have v little choice in the matter).
Is Bakewell too far?

We are having a MN picnic in Hillsbrough park at some point during August if you want to come along?

Millhouses park is very nice, I was there a couple of weeks ago and DD was very impressed with it.

The walk along the top of Froggat edge is nice. Start somewhere near Grindleford.

And there will be well dressings in some of the villages in August, if you google there will be an oline calendar. If you take bikes there are good trails along old railway lines, Tissington Trail and the Monsal Trail are both really good, easy biking.
