Kent Test 2025 question

The English paper was apparently differently to previous years.
Does anyone have any information about this?

I don’t think it was different but the comprehension part was a long piece about puppetry that some kids struggled with due to the specific vocabulary.

I see. Do you know if the spelling and punctuation were the same format. I guess if the comprehension was longer, they may have been shorter?

I'm a Kent Test tutor. From the intel I have, it was a fairly dense text with some unfamiliar vocabulary.Quite challenging for some children.

The format and structure (comprehension, with spelling/punctuation/grammar) wasn't different though.

My results were pretty much what I'd predicted from mock exams.

I’m also a Kent Test tutor. My cuspy students fell down on the English.
Tackling vocab knowledge is hard, most of my students don’t read for pleasure anymore which doesn’t help.
Do you have any tips for this?

I agree! Vocabulary is the area lots of mine find trickiest and this does affect results in both the English and VR papers for the Kent Test. There is definitely a decline in reading for pleasure in recent years.
