Hi, I am looking for a native Italian speaking tutor who is fully conversant with higher level GCSE requirement to guide my son over the next 5 months in preparation for his Italian GCSE exams, one lesson a week, and no agencies. I tried Bark several times, but only agencies are responding, and apparently indiviudual tutors are teaching spanish and French only. My son is re-taking his GCSE Italian as a private student, but so far I could not find any places, even with the AQA list on the internet. We leave in Surbiton, London, and we are struggling to find any places; most of schools listed by AQA rejected us. Has anybody any idea how I could find a place for my son and an Italian tutor? Your help will be much appreciated.

Thanks and Kind Regards

Try contacting https://www.tutorsandexams.uk/london-exam-centres/] for an exam centre place. They have various centres in the London area for GCSEs.
You are very close to the deadline for exam entries now.

Hi catndogslife

Thank you for your reply and for your information. I think that I have already tried that website and I did not take in consideration anymore as they asked me to provide with some Italian exams codes, and I was really confused about that. They told me to go to AQA website where I could find the codes there, but again I did not know what I needed to look for. I noticed that they have an Exam Centre in Wimbledon, hence I will try directly there. Thanks again.

My son is re-taking his GCSE Italian as a private student

Just interested in why he is doing this?

Hi, I am Italian, so my son is keen to learn the language and he likes speaking in Italian. Also I have parents and sister living in Italy so for my son is a good opportunity to talk with them over the phone and when I visited them in Italy during my holidays. Also I think that for a future job it might be useful for my son to know Italian.

TeenDivided, may I ask you if you found an Exam Centre as a private student for your son? I tried so many schools and colleges but with no luck so far.
Thanks.

Have you tried further education colleges who might offer GCSE talian as an evening class? Or asked AQA for a list of centres?

TeenDivided · 09/02/2024 08:14

I think it is the re taking it that is confusing me.
Do you mean he has taken it once already and not done well?
How old is he?
Some 6th forms may offer GCSE Italian as an ab initio subject.

Hi, Just want to let you know I found an exam centre for my son, finally!, at Campbell Harris College and...just on time, phew. I am still looking for an Italian teacher though, as it seems even that it not that easy. I thank you for all your responses and suggestion.
