What worked for your 7+ from state primary?

As many 7+ entry requires students to be beyond standard of state primary, when would be the best time to introduce a tutor for state primary child ?

We were thinking start of Y1, would 30 mins twice a week be too much?

Many things you can do yourself before introducing formal tutoring. If your child cannot read fluently at start of year 1 may seem futile to start that early. We started mid of year1 and worked very well once son was able to focus for a straight hour.
