You could try asking the school if they are involved in the Government's National Tutoring Partner or School Led Tutoring programmes. They will be run though the school and pick the bulk of the cost.

There are loads of good agencies out there that can provide a tutor, either face to face or online. Just Google. I have had contact with Mannings and Fleet and both are very good. But there are loads more.

When picking a tutor you don't personally know there are a few checks to do though. Obviously good subject knowledge in important - ideally a degree or studying for a degree in the right subject is useful.

Second you need to know they have an up to date DBS. Ideally and Enhanced DBS on the Update Service. All teachers have this and many tutor agencies insist on it as well (if they don't it's worth asking why not).

Thirdly subject knowledge in not enough as they need to be able to teach (which is not the same thing). So some teacher training is good. Obviously school teachers will normally have Qualified Teacher Status. But tutors do not have to have this. So I would ask what teacher training they have. Personally I would be looking for a tutor to have at least a Level 3 Award in Education and Training or similar Level 3 award. Tutors can easily register for these courses and they are relatively cheap from several reputable trainers e.g. Qualified Tutor, Myelin etc.

Finally a place to look might be the The Tutor Association (TTA), which have a long list of members who are experienced tutors. Hope this helps.

This is why recommendations are key. Look at good online tutor directory websites. Pick a DBS cleared tutor with good references and reviews. Interview a few about their skills and qualities etc as well. You can try the Internet but be wary of tutors who do not have a DBS check however.
