Exam concessions for 11+

Just wondering if anyone knows whether a dyslexic child would be given extra time in an 11+ exam, and be permitted to use their overlay? Anyone have any experience with this?

It would be illegal to not let then use their overlay - that would be a "reasonable adjustment". Whether they get extra time will depend on what is written in their EHCP - which would have to specify that the child would need additional time for timed tasks due to the additional processing time the child needs. Not all dyslexic children will need this adjustment and it will depend on how severely your child's processing speeds are affected by the dyslexia. The EHCP can recommend up to 25% extra time but I understand that 10% or 15% is more usual when extra time is needed. They can't just give extra time on your say-so if it isn't part of the EHCP.
