Just wondered if anyone could recommend a science tutor for my daugher who is in year 9. Alternatively has anyone used any online resources or courses that they would recommend. My daughter feels like she is falling behind and I just want to help her keep on track.

What area are you in? I recommend asking the teacher if they know of anyone who can effectively teach her science. Or you could always try a reputable tutoring company, look online or ask other parents for tutor recommendations. Many teachers might also be interested in teaching outside term time for additional money. What specifically is she struggling with in science? What does her science teacher say? Just be sure to check references and find out about qualifications if you go down the private tutoring route. A good one is able to spark a lifelong passion for that particular subject and encourage the child to achieve a higher possible grade too.

The good school guide has lots of good advice on finding a decent tutor in the area- here is the link www.goodschoolsguide.co.uk/tutors/find-a-tutor

Have you got the right textbooks for her? I don’t know if that’s a silly question but my ds doesn’t get textbooks so we had to find out what board the school does and get the right textbook.
Ds uses the textbook and recaps what they’ve learnt during the week.
He also uses Seneca learning which is a free site and he’s really enjoying it.

Thanks for your reply...my daughter is now doing the Seneca and although met initially with some resistance she is really enjoying it...I'm therefore going to hold off on the tutoring and see how she goes - brilliant thank you x

Hi, thank you for the link...I've had a good look and although its tutor agy's seem to all be London based some do offer skype tuition, so that might be something I look at for yr 10/11....many thanks for the advice.
