Bridgewater Four case.

ColinRobinsonsFart · 08/09/2024 09:57

The moors murderers.

These happened the year I was born but I lived in Hyde and the town was scarred for a long time afterwards. My gran knew one of the mums who's little one was murdered so it was close to her

charlieinthehaystack · 08/09/2024 11:06

Sorry meant to say kids in the car

Fernticket · 08/09/2024 20:44

@charlieinthehaystack . The name of the lady was Marie Wilkes. I live not far from where she went missing. I used to do quite a bit of motorway driving at one time and whenever I drive down the M5 and see the sign for the M50 Ross on Wye, I always think of her, as she was driving in the M50 when it happened. There was a big campaign highlighting safety for lone women drivers following her death.

Black Panther - the Lesley Whittle murder. I was 12 & obsessed.

The first news story about a crime that I remember making a big impact on me was the murder of Jasmine Beckford, a little 4 year old girl violently abused to death by her stepfather.

Still now I find it very hard not to dwell on the suffering of children who have been systematically tortured and killed by their "caregivers". There are so many haunting cases with news of more coming out all the time 😫😭

HornyHornersPinger · 29/10/2024 10:37

James Bulger. I was 12 only 2 years older than the murderers.

The case of Victoria,Climbie was very similar and haunts me

LauderSyme · 30/10/2024 22:57

Yes, poor Victoria Climbié's story haunts me too. It is somehow so much worse when opportunities to save the child were missed.

I feel compelled to find out about these murdered children and I watched a deepdive YouTube video about Victoria which gave much more detail than I already knew and it's deeply heartbreaking and enraging.

I can't stop thinking about many US cases either. Rest in peace Takoda Collins, Gabriel Fernandez, Isaiah Torres, Aniya Day Garrett, Cali Anderson, Brianna Lopez and so many more 😢 🙏 💔

bruffin · 30/10/2024 23:19

BalonzNotTheSurreyKind · 31/10/2024 19:46

Jamie Bulger. That poor little boy.

BalonzNotTheSurreyKind · 31/10/2024 19:49

Another one was Hillsborough. Yes it was a disaster but I believe the sheer negligence of the police was criminal.

If I remember correctly mine was the Mrtha Moxley case, I was shopping at the book store and I bought a copy of the book. I know I still have the book somewhere. I honestly think it was the first true crime book I ever read.

I just watched a documentary on Martha Moxley's case. What a wonderful family she was from and she had absolutely everything going for her. An absolutely savage attack on her - clearly deliberate murder, not an accidental killing. Just why?! I still can't believe it wasn't solved, even though realistically only 3 people could have done it: either Michael or Tommy Skakel or their tutor (or a combination of them).

I'm surprised Tommy has never been properly investigated. Did the Kennedies/Skakels throw Michael under the bus because he was the troubled one and Tommy the golden child? It seems Tommy had no meaningful alibi at all and was the one being touchy feely with Martha that night. But on the other hand, Michael placing himself at the scene of the crime claiming he just happened to be masturbating in the tree right above where the body was discovered is just so highly improbable. Maybe it was both the brothers? But why?! The tutor failing several polygraphs is also bizarre, but again why would he kill her so savagely in a completely random attack?
