ELC / IKEA train sets

Hi, Does anyone know if an ELC battery operated Thomas would fit onto IKEA wooden tracks? And if the ELC Thomas has magnets which will join him to the IKEA carriages?
Its just too complex for my brain to handle!
I know the Tomy Thomas works but it has no magnets, are they the same scale?
TIA

afaik all the wooden sets which look like Brio are compatible with each other, so the trains will fit together & so will the track (although possibly eg Tesco track is not quite as well engineered as Brio)

but I just had a look at the ELC website & the battery Thomas doesn't have a magnet on the front like the push-along one, does it? It might have one at the back but you can't see it.

I think you need to visit an actual shop (shocking idea I know ) & try one out

I know its a terrible thought!! I ventured into a toy shop the other day and they are so well packaged its very hard to tell!
Hoping for someone who has IKEA track to answer to save any further venturing into the unknown!!

don't they have them out to play with any more?

from reading the description here (not ELC but same engine) it will fit the track but it doesn't say anything about pulling carriages.

I'd ask them in the shop & if they don't know make them unpack one so you can see it!

Thanks Ponders, thats a help.
Our ELC had sand out the other day?!
I'll ask them and take a bit of track with me, cunning plan
