What age do they stop playing on a garden swing?

We are getting rid of the old TP climbing frame, but DS2 (nearly 8) is trying to negotiate a swing instead...

He loves swings, and always makes a beeline for them at park/ other people's houses, but I'm wondering if it will end up being a waste of money in 12 months time?

(DS1 is 10 btw, and still like the odd swing too...)

I think the problem with a garden swing is that, unless you buy an expensive one and sink it properly in the ground, then it is just not going to be strong enough or high enough as they get much past 8 years old.
I know that my 8 yo can rock the swing out of it's foundations now and it looks quite scary!
