Pogo sticks?

Can't decide whether it's a good idea or not (for friend's ds, who will be 6yo).

This tp one seems to have good reviews: www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Activity-Toys-Pogo-Stick/dp/B00067UBL0/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=toys&qid=1274086938& sr=8-4
but the lack of handle is putting me off.

Any insight into the delights of pogo sticks would be appreciated!

I used to have one exactly like that but red. It was great. I loved it. It's fairly easy too. Most of the street managed to get the hang of it in just a few tries.

Thanks for your reply and it sounds promising as I know sometimes pogo stick springs can be too rigid for much bouncing.
