Want to get one of these for a 2 year old... any recommendations? have done a search on line and there seem to be several websites offering them.

DH still has the one his mum got done for him in the early 80s from the Homepride people. It's actually typed. Shame when they asked for NAME OF CHILD she put his full name so the story reads something like:

One day RUPERT FOTHERINGAY SMYTHE went for a walk. 'Hello RUPERT FOTHERINGAY SMYTHE' said the Homepride man. 'Hello Homepride man' said RUPERT FOTHERINGAY SMYTHE'etc

(note named have been changed to protect the MIL )

Ds who is Thomas mad has two personalised Thomas books from Egmont publishing who publish the actual Thomas books anyway.. They do Thomas, Barbie and Bob the Builder I think.

note to self to make sure i don't make same mistake as the chuld in question does have a long double-barrelled name!

I had a snow white one of these books when i was little which is why i remembered about them... i loved it but it was fairly generic which is why i was hoping they might have evolved a bit by now...

The Egmont ones allow you to play about online with different hair colours/styles and ethnicity for the child's picture.

just checked the egmont website out - what a shame as the books look great but the only girly ones are barbie - which is a definite no no...
