Sand Pit. To stand at or sit in?

I'm thinking of getting some sort of sand box, but which do you think is better and / or has a longer life, one of the tables that you stand at or a bigger one that the child can sit in?

My DD is 2.3 and I'm expecting no.2 in the summer.

And yes, I do predict blissful sunny afternoons bf my newborn under a parasol while DD plays contentedly with sand.

Sitting in it has got to be more fun, surely? You could always improvise some kind of table arrangement as well if you needed to

Stand up at - gets more use year round as more usable when sodden/freezing outside. Ours froze full of water for several weeks this winter which gave much fun.

Sit in would be more fun in summer, but the winter is long up here...

Hmm, a friend did just come round and say I should get a sit in one for sand and a stand up one for water! Our garden is the size of a postage stamp

Any thoughts on wooden or plastic for a sit in one?
