We never seemed to get much use from the overly expensive trike we bought for DS1, especially compared to the use that DS' Mini Micro scooters get. I would say scooter if you are likely to have to transport it yourself for part of a journey...and balance bike if not

Mini Micro scooters brill

Brio type compatible trainset. Ikea have some cheap sets.

Duplo and more duplo

Washersaurus · 19/01/2010 22:59

Oh yes the train sets are always a winner - DS2 is a big Thomas the Tank fan and so we have those wooden engines for the brio type track and he plays with them all the time at the moment.

Also, anything Disney Cars related.

train set or duplo, as everyone has said, give you hours of play! Also you can get away with buying second hand for presents when they're 2. Duplo and train sets are also great to mention to any family members so they can buy additional items to the main bit of kit you will buy, so you've got a great set rather than lots of random toys that don't go together.
