I need to know how complicated the assembly is.
Specifically, is there anyway that "Santa" would manage to put it up in the garden after bedtime on 24th? ie in the dark and cold? I would love to wrap a box with a note in that says 'look in the garden.....' but am aware that I might be being a bit optimistic.

Dear Romana, we have a 14ft JKJP. We put it up during the summer. It took several days...... The first day was because they had sent us the wrong bits. It took us all day (11am-5pm) to establish this. The booklet is useless. There is a (free) helpline. The people on there know exactly what you are talking about. They then email you addditional instructions, which then make sense and when the correct bits arrive, it doesn't take too long, with a couple of strong people to help.

But in December?

The feet are in 4 sections. You have to assemble them first. You end up with 4 quadrilaterals, which can stand up on their own. You then join them up to make the circle. Putting the springly bit on was very easy.

If you have a garage or somewhere which could be kept secret you could make the 4 pieces ahead of time and them put it together on Christmas Eve. You would be SuperSanta, if you did this.

Hooray - thanks Merle for the reply!!

Yes, I have a garage, so I will try to make the feet tonight. I hope I have the right bits.....

Good luck, follow the instructions for the A and B parts carefully. If, after several hours, you are not getting anywhere and/or are crying, then they've sent you the wrong ones!

DH says yes - with torches and lots of energy for the springs.... we had all the right bits though!

I did it!!! Just got to keep them out of the garden tomorrow.....

I did it on my own, with no torch!! Must remember to sneak out with dh at some point to check everything's shoved together properly. The springs were a right hassle - my back's killing me!

(I had a secret midnight bounce and it all seemed fine )
