Any recommendations on Roller Skates?

Hi, just that really - ds would like roller skates for his 6th birthday and I don't know whether to go for a pair of plastic Ben 10 ones from Toys R Us, inline skates or what? Any experience? Many thanks.

We've got a couple of pairs of skates for 5 and 8 year old. Search Smyths online for Quad Skates, they're 19.99. Proper boot roller skates but adjustable to 3 sizes. We tried inline before but DD found it so hard to balance, switching to normal skates made a world of difference and prompted our 5 year old to ask for some too.

Personally I wouldn't go for plastic ones for a 6 year old, I don't think they look tough enough. They can take quite a beating on the tarmac.
