Help! Which toy did/does your 1 year old DD love??

Please help. DD will be 1 at christmas and her birthday falls in January. I know she doesn't need toys (as she is happiest playing with pans!) but the grandparents aren't happy with that and are pestering for ideas on presents.

So...what was the one toy your 1 year old DD loved above all others!

this It got played with and played with. In fact, we still have it, 3 years on.

Fisher price telephone

hellsbelles · 30/11/2009 19:08

oh thanks Evil - that looks like just her sort of thing. One to tell them to buy! Only a few more ideas needed now!

Stacking cups

choufleur · 30/11/2009 19:09

or get them to buy something that comes in a really large box and let her have the box

hellsbelles · 30/11/2009 19:11

ahh...the telephone looks so lovely Tizzy - another one to add. Starting to think I've been a bit mean making her play with just tupperware and pans (and her brothers old toys!)....when there are all these fab toys.

Better go and get supper finished and hopefully even more ideas will magically appear here.

building blocks get lots of usage

talking/musical tellytubbies are much adored

hellsbelles · 30/11/2009 19:35

sorry just noticed my post makes no sense...I meant to say DD will be nearly 1 at christmas (and will officially be 1 in Jan) But it seems like you've managed to decipher that anyway - sorry!

My ex-charge loved her pram, her building blocks and her....train set (with a little electric pink train that flashed lights and made noise).

I second the stacking cups - also very useful to take with you if you're going out somewhere because they don't take up much space.

We've got a rocking horse (well rocking eeyore, actually), a Rody Pony (popular until the rabbit bit a hole in its ear) if you were looking for something bigger than a walker - depends if she's walking yet (or close to it).

Most popular at the moment (almost 15 months) is books. Lots and lots of board books - especially the ones that make quacking/mooing noises.

DD got some happyland stuff for her 1st birthday from ELC and she's really into that at the moment - especially the train.

hellsbelles · 30/11/2009 21:51

thanks frakkin and cokefan - she's not walking yet (she's 10 months at the moment) but probably will be close to it by then so will have a look at all those.

I agree on the books but luckily she already has tons inherited from her brother. She loves them.
