Hmmmm ... ideas for 1yr old please

Hi

I have a 1 yr old little boy (well he will be at Christmas - useful. not!) and keep being asked what grandparents, aunts, etc can buy him.

I dislike Christmas and try and forget about it until the last moment but I can see that this won't work this year.

Can anyone give me ideas on what to buy him / ask for? He already has a walker, a ride on toy and a rocking horse!

I know that he won't care but I feel as if I should have some ideas for those that ask ...

Many thanks

wooden blocks etc (myriad and holz toys have some lovely ones)

my dd had a pull along beetle from mothercare that sings abc and does colours and 123, she liked that and still does at 2.4

she had 2 wooden jigsaws with pegs abc123 and soon learned to do them.

finger crayons - wilko

finger paints - wilko

colouring books

magic paint books

books

or ask them to buy clothes in next size up.

Thanks for the suggestions! It reminded me about the wooden toys - love them

Any more ideas?

I know some people are getting aquadraw ... I've read some bad reviews - anybody recommend/not recommend them on here?

Stacking cups - they were a (cheap) triumph for DD2's first christmas. They are timeless - I spent ages playing with them today with her and her 3.9 year old sister.

If you want ideas for a big present, we got DS a SmartTrike last Xmas when he was 14 months. He's got a lot of use out of it this year and will continue to use it when he gets older.

Books are always good. Or anything with people or animals (like HappyLand or Little People). He might not play with them yet but will over the next year.

DS has some Aquadraw mini mats that come out sometimes. He likes them but they drive me a bit mad as he spends half the time asking to fill the pen up again (he just likes using the tap)

My DD is 1 in 2 weeks and as its so close to xmas, she will effectively be 2 before any other present opportunities really. So I've asked for stuff that she can grow into as developmentally its a huge gap between 1 and 2. She's got a smarttrike and a wheely bug as her main presents. But from other people she is getting happyland, Aquadraw, a sand/water table, a ball pool & balls, peg style jigsaws, set of musical instruments and some pull along toys.

I stress that that is xmas and birthday with 4 sets of grandparents and three sets of godparents but i hope it gives you some ideas.

Thanks all. Very interesting. TheDoctorsWife, the list is very useful as I have loads of people asking! I had also thought maybe ask for things for summer especially - at 18 months thye can do so much more (and outside!)

Thanks again all ...
