I am desperate to buy myself DS2 the Egyptian playmobil sets especially the pyramid . He is really keen on Egypt since doing it at school but DH thinks he is far too old for playmobil as he will be almost 9 by Christmas. What do you think?

My 8 year old still plays with playmobil and I have bought him a pirate ship for christmas. I know other older children who still play with it.

My just turned 9 year old daughter asked for the Hospital playmobile for her birthday - she loves it and I would say that Playmobile in general (she has a lot - airplane, airport, vet clinic, animals as well now hospital) is the toy she plays with the most. So no, 8/9is not too old - I hope
you enjoy your son enjoys the pyramid!!

I came home this week to find my two boys (7&10) playing with the furniture from the dolls house. If we had Playmobil they'd definately use it.

God no, look at all the 40 year olds on here who are obsessed with it.

wideratthehips · 26/10/2009 22:28

Can anyone describe Playmobile for meI must've been living on a different planet as I haven't seen much about it except ads on tv.Is it at all similar to Little People? dd is coming up 4 and loves thelittle people stuff, was wondering if Playmobil would be similar? She has sn and low muscle tone so needs figures etc that are quite chunky and easy to manipulate.TIA

Fennel · 02/11/2009 16:06

My 9 and 8 year olds like playmobile, it's the 5yo who doesn't really play with it. They play mostly with the fort and soldiers, the pirate ship, and the fairy garden/unicorn bits.

I liked playmobil til I was about 12.

Mavis, Playmobil has lots of little fiddly bits, probably a bit hard for a 4yo who needs figures that are easy to manipulate. You could try Duplo figures maybe instead?

MrsJohnDeere · 02/11/2009 16:18

My 8 and 9 yo nieces love playing with Playmobil when they visit our house (they don't have it at home).

Marne · 02/11/2009 16:20

I'm 27 and i still play with it

I hope my dd will still be playing with it at 9 (as it cost's us a fortune to keep adding to her collection).
