I am considering getting either a Fisher Price or VTech digital camera for my DD for her 4th birthday. Does anyone's DC have one? Are they any good? All experiences welcome. Thanks

ooo good thread.
i am getting one for ds's 4th birthday too.
i was thinking of the vtech one because the screen is a bit bigger, plus its cheaper!

will be interested to hear opinions!

ds1 has the vtech one and loves it!
He plays games on there and adds borders to his photos. camera is very resiliant and puts up with his 2yr old brother bashing it about.
You really need to get an SD card to go in it as it doesn't hold many photos without.
Uses 4 AA batteries so be prepared for high cost or get rechargables!

Thanks. I'm definitely veering towards the Vtech one, primarily because of price. It's also good to hear that it'll withstand some bashing, as I also have a 2 year old DS who will be desperate to try and use it as well.

can you see the photos you have taken on the screen of the camera?
i have seen one type that you cant see the pics until you download onto PC, but DS will want to see them back on screen like you can on my camera...
i liked the idea of the vtech one for the games too. glad your ds likes his!

POTC · 20/08/2009 20:05

you can see the pics on the screen and scroll through any you have saved. ds likes to show Granny ones he took of days out and it works well for that

GeeWhizz · 20/08/2009 20:07

Vtech one is great, can view the photos on the screen at the back easily. DD 5 has had hers over a year and have now bought one for DS who will be 3.

Need a SD card.

Energizer batteries seem to last very well - you do need a screwdriver to replace them though which is not always to hand when you're out!!

POTC · 20/08/2009 20:12

Ah yes - screwdriver! Stops ds2 taking the batteries out (and then dropping them in the bath while I'm in it...) but has meant that I've had to send ds1 on holiday with camera, lots of spare batteries and screwdriver!

allaboutme · 20/08/2009 20:13

sd card - is that a memory card? sorry i'm a bit dense

GeeWhizz · 20/08/2009 20:15

Yes, memory card

POTC · 20/08/2009 20:19

yeah, fairly cheap in the bigger supermarkets but still around £10 I think

FrazzledFairyFay · 20/08/2009 20:19

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the help. I'm going to order a Vtech one from Amazon
