Missing diverse toys

Girlmama123 · 28/06/2025 16:00

Does anyone else miss diverse toys?
I have a girl and she loves cars. She also loves pink. And there are like no pink cars available.
I was also looking for dolls for our dollhouse and all the available dolls are white.
I am not even talking about normal dolls which are all white girls in pink clothes.
I also want to include different disabilities into her environment and there are no toys for that.
Am I weird for wanting diverse toys for my baby?

Toys are more diverse than ever these days it would take seconds to search online or in a toy shop for a pink car or more diverse figures for her dolls house. Where on earth are you looking that you can't find them?

Snorlaxo · 28/06/2025 16:05

Amazon have pink cars. Here’s a transporter and some smaller cars

Where on earth do you shop?
Cars are available in just about every colour.
Ditto dolls.
Barbie dolls with various disabilities are available.
Lego minifigures too.

You couldn't find a wooden pink toy car or diverse wooden dolls house family on Amazon? Really?

Notupmyalley · 28/06/2025 16:09

@Girlmama123 how old is your DD?

There are diverse toys everywhere these days. Wooden as well. Depends what you are looking for!

MarinaRuby · 28/06/2025 16:09

Are you looking exclusively on Amazon? There are so many brands which sell diverse dolls/dollhouse figures so I have no idea what you mean: John Lewis, Olli Ella, Le Toy Van, Tender Leaf, Bigjigs, Little Dutch

Needmorelego · 28/06/2025 16:10

Yes by typing a few words into Google absolutely LOADS of toys that you are after came up.

Lanka Kade do some lovely rag dolls of different ethnicities and skin tones, Miniland are good for more realistic plastic dolls of different ethnicities and also disabilities. I try to avoid Amazon where possible but you can probably find them there if you look. I think you have to look wider than just Amazon/Smyths as they tend to have just the mainstream options, I really like Babipur, Kid Collective, Ethical Superstore, Ele and Me, Tickety Boo (RIP Kidly who were also great). Lots of really nice small businesses stocking diverse toys if you look, plus you're not funding Jeff Bezos' yacht!

MagpiePi · 28/06/2025 16:15

Be really diverse and stop thinking that everything for your daughter has to be pink!

okydokethen · 28/06/2025 16:15

I found diverse/neutral toys for girls very easy, boys less so.

Have a look at candylab wooden cars. They definitely have a variety of colours including pink. I know Babipur sells them (I've only had good experiences ordering from them) but presumably there are other stockists available.

Weirdly I’m a girl I love cars own lots of sports and track cars and not one of them is pink.. I find it so so at odds you want diversity and then plonk a massive sterotype in there.

Snorlaxo · 28/06/2025 16:33

Have you considered buying plain and painting them pink yourself ? A paint tester pot should be fine for a few cars

Incredibly, they can just play with the same stuff.
