Stepping stones for toddler?

I've heard stepping stones are a good toy to help develop toddlers gross motor skills so was thinking of buying some for my DD who has a gross motor delay. Does anyone have these and is there much difference between the really expensive ones from Stapelstein (~£150 for 6) and Play Factory from Smyths (£25 for 6)?
