Can anyone help me track down this doll?

I'm trying to track down a replacement for this very loved (!) doll that my 17 year daughter has had for 15+ years. I don't know the brand or where it was bought from (she had it before we adopted her).
It's approx. 30cm tall. It's head is facing to the right. The body is soft but the arms, head & legs are hard plastic. It's eyes are closed & it's tiny mouth is slightly open but I don't think it came with a dummy. The 'skin' is Caucasian, despite how it appears in the photo (it's very grubby!). The clothes consist of a pale blue & white stripey top attached to pale blue & cream/pale yellow dungarees with a snail logo on the front. I can't find any branding anywhere on the doll or clothes.
I know a new one won't be the same but I'm hoping to send the original off for some much needed tlc & I think she'll need a temporary replacement in order for me to prise it out of her hands (she's VERY attached to it still). Any ideas of where to start looking? TIA

It looks like a Tesco dolly have you tried asking them? Xx
Good luck! X

Isn't part of the attachment to it in its current state? I still have my childhood teddy bear, it is in a bad condition, but if it was tidied up then it wouldn't be my bear?

It looks like the old style berenguer rosebud. Its hard to see the face to compare with it being sideways but the hands look similar too.

Crankymum73 · 14/12/2022 18:41

@RagamuffinCat I know what you mean, but I think it we leave this one much longer it's going to completely fall apart. I will only be getting it repaired with my daughter's permission. Currently I'm just exploring options.

This maybe? Its sold out but if it is the right one at least we know what its called!

Crankymum73 · 14/12/2022 18:46

Here's a close up of the face. The head seems to be permanently fixed facing right, but as my daughter has done some of her own repairs in the past it may not always have been like that.

@GlitteryFarts it's a possibility, thank you

If you have cable ties to hand the base of the neck is normally inscripted with the makers and model. But it would mean removing the head first, not a hard task at all to reattach but depends how brave you are!

I have DCs of a similar age. Reminds me of a doll I bought in Woolworth's that DC2 was very attached to.

A couple more photos...one showing the doll without clothes to show how it is made.

@Crankymum73 if it was Woolworths own brand the brand would have been Chad Valley. Argos own the rights to Chad Valley now so they might have contact details.
I used to work for Woolworths but I don't recognise her - but we sold lots of dolls.
You might be able to Google the Woolworths (or other toy shops) christmas catalogue from the relevant year. There are a few nostalgia sites where people have put the catalogues online.

Crankymum73 · 14/12/2022 19:15

@Needmorelego thanks, more ideas for me to follow up later :)

Ok, so just spoke with foster carer (don't know why I didn't think of that first!) & the doll was definitely from Woolworths so that narrows the search a bit :) Thanks for everyone's help so far. Any more suggestions as to where to find a replacement welcomed.
