Hi, I'm Looking at magna tiles for a Christmas present but they are so expensive. Reviews generally say to stick with the brand rather than buying a cheaper alternative.

I'm wondering whether a 32 piece wet would be enough so whether you really need the 100 piece set to actually make things?

We got Picasso tiles, they are good quality and cheaper than Magnatiles.

We got cheap ones and the branded ones and there's no difference in terms of what you can build. DD likes to make really big structures so we got cheaper ones but lots of them.

We have one of these:

Plus an official Magna Tiles set and they all play nicely together

Thanks everyone, think I'll get one of these cheaper ones instead!

Magformers are also good and a bit cheaper.

We got a set with the brand 'Desire Deluxe' which is considerably cheaper than the 'proper' ones and they seem just as good and my daughter loves them.
