Safari animals

Hi, can anyone recommend a safari animal play set for a three year old (must include a lion and an elephant Grin)? There are loads available online but I've seen some dodgy reviews, so thought I'd see if anyone has one that they'd recommend. Thanks!

Wooden or plastic?

Lanka kade do some lovely wooden ones, and all fair trade

For plastic, Schleich are the classic brand to turn to - beautiful figures, and really good quality. Don't be scared at the price, they will last for ever and ever! And make good presents when people ask what to buy your little one in the future - they can grow their collection bit by bit.

Ah thank you! I think he's after plastic ones, from what I can tell 😄 the Schleich ones look great. I've been trying to find a set with an elephant and lion, without much success so far, but I guess I could buy them separately.

Schleich do lovely figures. They are usually on 3 for 2 in smyths but not online, only in stores.

That's a good tip, thank you! We have an independent toy shop nearby that I think sells Schleich, so maybe I need to go and investigate

Keep an eye on the schleich website - I picked up loads across last year on 3 for 2 and then for one free for every £50 I spent. I saved them and made it into an advent calendar for Xmas. They also have a sale section and you find the odd bargains there. I think I also got a repeat spend discount too

Scleich are good but very expensive.
What about ELC?

Alternatively ebay or local FB group as these animals seem to last forever.

We buy a lot of schleich second hand for my animal mad DS, they're excellent quality so worth looking out for x

Playmobil... But remove any small bits if he's a young three.

ELC used to do lovely plastic animals (not quite Schleich beauty, but sturdy and easier on the wallet).

I’d get the Playmobil wild Safari truck, which comes with a family of lions, 2 rangers and some other accessories. The truck has a working cable winch and a removable roof. There’s another slightly different Safari truck set which comes with a trailer and elephants.
