I had no idea where to put this topic so I hope this is ok but please could I ask for some good ideas for a 2 year boy for his birthday? He loves being outdoors so I'm going to get him a slide & a water table but I want a few bits to play with inside! He has no specific preferences with tv characters! He likes hands on toys, models, sets that kind of thing!
Thank you!!!!

Maybe a trike or a scuttlebug? Or a wobble board, or Pikler triangle if you have space.

Spillanelle · 17/03/2021 20:11

My almost 2 year old also loves her play kitchen.

Acidrain · 17/03/2021 20:17

Duplo my DS loved it at 2 and still plays with it daily now at 3.

Waytoplay car track was also a big hit although expensive!
Or what about a wooden train set?

I think the great thing with these toys are they can be used for years to come!

For outside a Mud kitchen was our best buy, played with every few days (makes a massive he's though!)

Wooden train set to start off a collection - or add to it if you already have a set....tunnels, signals, bridges etc.

Play kitchen got a lot of use when my DC were little.

Playdoh/accessories. (I can't remember if 2 is too young for playdoh but we had a big box of related toys, cutters etc that was always a hit)

Play tent great at that age.

Ds got a Thomas scooter for his second birthday.. At 6 he has upgraded but still loves a scooter!!

Dispiritingday · 17/03/2021 20:23

I have seen some lovely tipii style children's indoor tents.

Atalune · 17/03/2021 20:26

Brio train stuff is great and you can add to it.
Wooden tool bench/kit. DS loved his little wooden tool belt and hammering things in the bench
Fireman hat/police helmet/
Dressing up things

Play kitchen thirded. We have just picked up a second hand IKEA one and 2 year old has not left it alone. Also wooden / Velcro veg which he has spent hours 'chopping' up.

Spillanelle · 17/03/2021 20:42

@LimpLettice DD also loves the Velcro veg. She’ll sit for such a long time chopping her wooden veg, shouting “chop-chop”

LimpLettice · 17/03/2021 21:01

It's v cute, @Spillanelle Smile

Dispiritingday · 17/03/2021 21:03

Oh yes, wooden birthday cake and pizza with slices, wooden cupcakes, shopping trolley (that looked exactly like the real thing) and a little tea set... all popular. What a cute age!

DennisTMenace · 17/03/2021 21:14

My kids at that age would have loved some mud and sticks! But if you want something more present like then a sand pit is good. Get one with a lid so it can be kept free from cats and foxes. Also agree with previous posters on the mud kitchen.
