Strong, stretchy pink stuff

My son saw 2 quite big girls playing with this toy/game on the bus. He described it as “strong stretchy pink stuff”. Not a slinky. They were stretching it between them and it didn’t break or tear. Shiny rather than fluffy.

We are trying to figure out what it was that he saw.

Any ideas?

Putty? Although it does break, it stretches quite far.
