Rattle for 8 month old?

Just found some lovely plush rattles that are also teething rings and I was wondering if these would make a suitable gift for an 8 month old or will they be too old for this type of thing now?

I am trying to conceive so haven't quite got the whole toy - age - development thing sussed yet!
