Star Wars Lego - help needed please

My nephew has asked for Star Wars Lego for his 7th birthday, which I thought would be simple but there are so many different types I'm confused! He doesn't have any already so this is the start of his collection.

I'm happy to spend around £30-£35, so probably 3 or 4 small sets I guess?

There seem to be Storm Troopers, Rebel Alliance and Resistance Troopers .. do they fight one another so should I be getting some of each?

I haven't seen the films so feeling rather bewildered and just trying to get it right.

Any advice gratefully received Smile

My Ds preferred the sets with main characters in or he looked out for figures he didn't have.

I'd check with his mum & see if that's the case here & make sure you are not doubling up.

Was going to say similar to MissBea- get characters.
We have loads of Star Wars lego of different vintages and the some of it is ridiculously expensive, even small sets are dear.
It can be difficult to get characters and for what they are they aren't cheap but the really help with playing with the lego.

Good advice about the main characters .. hadn't thought of that, thank you.

He does seem to like vehicles, planes etc so maybe I should get a mixture but include the main characters too. Thanks

I agree Minniemagoo,it is so expensive & it annoys me when a certain character is only in the large boxes.
I'm sure we've spent a fortune over the last few Christmas & birthdays but at least Star Wars never seems to go out of fashion with young boys.

Highlandcoo I don't know when you need it for but keep an eye out for 3-2 deals,I'm sure some shops will start these offers once September stars.

Can also look at eBay - people buy big sets and then sell the characters separately. A fiver for a figure is quite a bit but much cheaper than the £200 Ewok Village the figure came from!

Thanks for the advice re 3-2 deals and also the eBay idea .. worth thinking about Smile

Highland Smyths have just released voucher codes for £5 off a £20 spend & also £10 & £20 codes for £50 & £100 spends.
They have quite a good selection of star wars Lego.

My son has just picked out some Star Wars Lego for his 6th birthday. If it's of help to you they were Lego sets 75135 (Obi-Wan's jet) and 71536 (escape pod with R2-D2 and C3-PO). They are £15-20 each so both would be good buys for you. Just type Lego and the number into Amazon for a look.
